Book Review of Buddhist Boot Camp by Timber Hawkeye

Buddhist Boot CampBuddhist Boot Camp by Timber Hawkeye should be a staple in every person’s library who is interested in living an intentional, mindful life.  Utilizing Buddhist teachings without the emphasis on religion, Hawkeye provides timeless wisdom and advice to guide us through everyday life challenges, emotions and feelings.

The book is broken down into short, digestible segments that make it an enjoyable read and easier to apply on a regular basis.  Hawkeye addresses our most basic human emotions from anger and gratitude to fear and faith.  The book is filled with a collection of his personal experiences that has helped shape his thinking, as well as inspirational quotes from people like Eleanor Roosevelt, Aristotle and Gandhi.

My own personal favorites in the book are the sections that address gratitude and mindfulness.  I enjoy Timber’s simple wisdom on how gratitude can change how we feel and act in the face of life’s everyday challenges.  His section on mindfulness has helped immensely with my goal of learning how to quiet my thoughts and control what is flowing through my mind on a regular basis.

I am actually on my third reading of Buddhist Boot Camp and I take away something new each time I read it.  There are so many nuggets of wisdom in the pages, it provides a lot of motivation and guidance that can be applied for a lifetime without losing its inspirational qualities.  I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a source to help them quiet their inner voice and add more gratitude, mindfulness and intentional living to their lives.
